Terms of Use
The short version: be yourself, write freely, and use the app as a personal journal. Your words belong to you. The app is a companion for reflection, not a medical service.
1. Agreement
By creating an account or using Sharp Thought (the apps and the website), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
2. The service
Sharp Thought is a private journaling app: a daily quote and question, a writing surface, optional AI assistance, and gentle habit support. The free tier is a real journal, not a trial — core writing, export, and access to your own data are never paywalled.
3. Your account
- You must provide a valid email address and keep your credentials secure; you are responsible for activity under your account.
- You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction) to use the service.
- We may suspend accounts that abuse the service (see section 5).
4. Your content
- You own your journal. We claim no rights over what you write. You can export everything at any time.
- You grant us only the limited technical permission needed to store and sync your content for you (and, where end-to-end encryption applies, we store ciphertext we cannot read).
- If you share a card publicly, you are responsible for what you choose to share.
5. Acceptable use
Do not use the service to break the law, to attack or probe our infrastructure, to abuse rate limits or AI features, or to attempt access to other users' data. We may suspend or terminate accounts engaged in abuse, with export of your own data honored wherever lawful.
6. AI features — not medical advice
AI features offer reflective assistance only. They do not diagnose, do not treat, and are not a substitute for professional help. If you are in crisis, contact local emergency services or a crisis line. AI output can be imperfect; use your judgment.
7. Subscriptions
Optional paid tiers unlock additional features (such as extended AI assistance). Prices, billing period, and cancellation are shown at the point of purchase; you can cancel anytime and keep the paid features until the end of the paid period. Your journal itself never depends on paying.
8. Availability and changes
We aim for the service to be reliable, but it is provided "as is" without warranties; features may change as the product evolves. Because the app is offline-first, your journal on your device keeps working even when the service is unreachable.
9. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
10. Ending things
You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time (export first — see the Privacy Policy). We may close the service or your account with reasonable notice, giving you the chance to export.
11. Changes to these terms
If these terms change materially, we will update the effective date and inform you in the app before the change applies.
